In another publication, Supermarket Remedies, Dr. Cass Ingram states that “Oregano is one of Nature’s finest preservatives.” Steven Foster, author of Herbal Renaissance, writes about the primary uses of oil of oregano for oregano oil’s antispasmodic effects and attributes the capabilities of oil of oregano to two of the constituent properties, thymol and carvacrol, that cause this essential oil to function as fungicidal and a worm expellant.

Oil of oregano continues to be studied with a new emphasis on antioxidants and the aging process. Research continues on anti-aging, arthritis, and rheumatism which are the results of damage to the cells that are effected by free radicals.
