Oil of oregano Essential Oregano Oil

Sunday, February 07th, 2010

Oil of oregano Essential Oregano Oil is a potent essential oil made from oregano oil that is distilled from a member of the mint family, Origanum Compactum. The highest grade of medicinal oil of oregano was originally found growing wild in the Mediterranean. Origanum Compactum is now grown in numerous places across the globe including the US and India. A special steam distillation process is used to extract the Buyoregano essential oil. The distillation process will produce only about one pound of oregano oil from 1000 pounds oregano plant leaves. Because of the difficulty harvesting and growing wild oregano and the small amount of medicinal grade oil extracted per ton of original oregano leaves, oil of oregano is one of the more expensive essential oils to buy.

Origanum vulgare is a second variety of oregano oil that is sold with claims similar to Origanum Compactum, however, Origanum Compactum is considered the preferred species of oregano plants to gather for the premium medicinal, aromatherapy and therapuetic grades of oil of oregano essential oil.

Oil of Oregano essential oil contains the following constituents:

    • thymol (should be less than 5%, greater percentages should not be used internally. )
    • carvacrol (60–80+%) the most beneficial component, higher is better
    • para-cymene (5.5–9%)
    • gamma-terpinene (3.5–8.5%)
    • Beta- Caryophyllene (2-5%)
    • myrcene (1-3%)

Pure essential oil of oregano has been difficult to find online. Dr. Cass Ingram, author of The Cure is in the Cupboard states, “the problem is that the commercially available (oregano) oil is almost exclusively marjoram oil or thyme oil.” These herbs are separate plants having different medicinal properties and are mislabeled as oregano oil. Thymus capitus is an edible herb but the oil from the same plant can be toxic with serious side effects!

When choosing to buy oil of oregano, be sure to buy from a reputable merchant that sells “100% pure Origanum Compactum oregano essential oil” with a certificate of analysis available upon request. The oil of oregano constituent properties must be high in carvacrol and very low in thymol. Clinical trials have found that high levels of carvacrol in oil of oregano can destroy or inhibit many strains of parasites, fungi and bacteria.

Oregano oil should be diluted before applied to most skin areas or under the tongue. You may use olive oil, coconut oil or a carrier oil of your choice. If no instructions are available for your application, a 50/50 dilution will eliminate a chance of irritation. Oregano oil does not have synthetic carvacrol and to qualify as pure oregano essential oil of medicinal grade, it must be sold by botanical name only.

Oregano oil is not recommended to those on blood thinning medications. If you are pregnant or nursing you should not use oregano oil without conferring with your doctor. A drug resistance is not known to develop against naturally-occurring antibiotics such as oil of oregano and garlic.

Oil of oregano is the natural super potent germ killer known as a “cure all” of home remedies throughout the Mediterranean, now the world with claims of killing fungus, parasites, molds, virus and bacteria. Jean Valnet, author of “The Practice of Aromatherapy,” declares that oil of oregano is so potent that it has the ability to sterilizing sewage! In addition to medicinal qualities, oregano oil is highly desired for aromatherapy and therapeutic purposes. Try Oregano soap

Oil of Oregano Antioxidant

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Oil of oregano antioxidant is the description for the third most potent antioxidant listed in the Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity, ORAC, test (recognized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to measure the Total Antioxidant Potency of nutritional supplements and foods). BuyEssential oils have the highest antioxidant characteristics, according to ORAC scores, of any other known substances. Oregano oil is widely known for aromatherapy and therapeutic use but the use as an antioxidant has been a well kept secret.

Oil of oregano antioxidant as a supplement has a history similar to vitamins. We take vitamin history and information for granted when in actuality vitamins were only discovered in the early 1900s and extensive clinical trials were not completed until the 1950s.

Oxidation is the slow deterioration of a molecule. The oxidation process is a chemical reaction that transfers normal electrons from a perfectly formed molecule in the body to an oxidizing agent. This “freed” electron is known as a “free radical”. The new free radical tries to attach to other perfectly formed molecules, and when it does attach, destruction starts. The harmonious balance is upset and disease takes its place. Some oxidation reactions are necessary for life. Most oxidation is damaging to living organisms, therefore we must maintain complex systems of different types of antioxidants. Since antioxidants “kill” or neutralize the free radicals, we must supplement to keep up with the bombardment of harmful oxidizing rays, bad foods and chemicals that we come in contact in our present lifestyles. Oil of oregano antioxidant is one of the most potent, least expensive (per use) antioxidant supplements on the market. The side effects of Oil of oregano antioxidant are all good, such as immune support, viral inhibitor, and bacteria eliminator. Try oil of Oregano Soap

Oil of Oregano Buyhas been identified as an antiseptic as far back as ancient Greek medical origins and now is known to contain a vast range of antimicrobial control. Oregano oil is unrivaled in its ability to NOT promote microbial resistance while continuing to kill a wide range of microbes. The most potent oil of oregano that is found to deliver the greatest benefits comes from the rare plant species, Origanum compactum.

Origanum compactum oil of oregano is extracted from the plant leaves and blooms using a unique distillation process preserving the curative properties and active constituent ingredients. The special distillation process of Origanum compactum oregano requires one hundred pounds of oregano flowers, leaves and stems to produce one pound of essential oil of oregano. This oregano oil smells a little like camphor, is slightly amber in color and has a potent hot burn if placed undiluted in the mouth or on genital areas. Oil of Oregano has a major constituent called carvacrol. This component property is responsible for the wide array of benefits received from oregano oil and is also responsible for oregano oil being known as a very HOT spicy oil. According to numerous recent authors, aromatherapy uses for the strong oregano oil include breathing disorders, battles with virus, bacteria and yeast infestations. Author John Heinerman in Heinerman’s Encyclopedia of Fruits, Vegetables and Herbs states that oil of oregano is used to relieve bronchitis as well as a cornucopia of other ailments. The Cure is in the Cupboard, by Cass Ingram, D.O details the curative properties of oil of oregano as the entire book is dedicated to healing properties of oregano oil. Dr. Ingram points out the vitamin and mineral inclusions, including the statement, [oregano oil is] “…a natural mineral treasure-house, containing a density of minerals that would rival virtually any food.” And [true oregano oil is] “one of the world’s finest natural medicines”. In another publication, Supermarket Remedies, Dr. Cass Ingram states that “Oregano is one of Nature’s finest preservatives.” Steven Foster, author of Herbal Renaissance, writes about the primary uses of oil of oregano for oregano oil’s antispasmodic effects and attributes the capabilities of oil of oregano to two of the constituent properties, thymol and carvacrol, that cause this essential oil to function as fungicidal and a worm expellant.

Oil of oregano continues to be studied with a new emphasis on antioxidants and the aging process. Research continues on anti-aging, arthritis, and rheumatism which are the results of damage to the cells that are effected by free radicals. These free radicals are volatile oxygen molecules that pilfer electrons from other molecules they come in contact with. These free radicals adulterate normal cells and proliferate degenerated cells. Free radical reactions resolve in the aging process, degenerative and inflammation of the joints. Strong antioxidants help in the anti-aging, strong immune systems, healthy minds and relieves osteoarthritis. Oil of oregano is a very effective antioxidant.Try Oil of Oregano soap

When the library of ancient Babylon was unearthed to reveal rows upon rows of clay tablets, scholars went to work deciphering the wealth of lost knowledge. Since that time several other treasure troves of clay tablets found in other countries revealing procedures of purification using the herb “hissop leaves” in boiling water and after cooling, the washing of feet and hands in the said hissop enriched solution. Hissop was also used in Biblical ceremonies to “anoint”. We now know that this is the same herb we now call oregano. We understand the abilities of oregano oil’s powerful antiviral, antibacterial abilities and suspect that these same properties were known by these ancestors thousands of years ago. Oregano Oil of Origanum compactum is native to Morocco and now grows in France, Germany and USA.

Oregano oil of Origanum vulgare is another oregano oil that is sold in place of Oregano Oil of Origanum compactum. Origanum vulgare has similar properties of Origanum compactum, but Origanum compactum remains the premier oregano essential oil! Oregano oil of other herbs are not only NOT Oregano oil, but in some cases these caustic oils are detrimental to your health. Many unscrupulous vendors market oregano oil of dubious origins. Marjoram, thyme, and sage are the most used herbs that are used to manufacture a FALSE oregano oil. Oregano oil from dried oregano leaves, used in cooking, is not from the same plant used to distill the essential oil of oregano. When purchasing any essential oil always look for the botanical name and species pure declaration such as: “100% Pure Oregano Oil of Origanum compactum.” (Sold Here)

Recent clinical studies using oregano oil of Origanum compactum has confirmed the medicinal properties that have been suspected for over 4000 years. The universities in Spain, Georgetown and Tennessee continue to work with oregano oil of Origanum compactum to see specifically why oil of oregano is beneficial in treating viral, fungal and bacteria caused diseases and complications in the body. Oregano Oil of Origanum compactum has an ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) rating of 153,007, making it one of the most potent antioxidants known to man. The elimination of damaging free radicals is made easier with a potent antioxidant. This oregano oil supplement has a host of benefits that are just reaching the light of day.
